Supplementary studies

during legal clerkship

The supplementary studies at the University of Speyer are primarily aimed at legal clerks from all federal states who can complete them as part of their administrative, legal advisory, or elective stage, as well as technical clerks. Graduates of law, economics, or social sciences may also participate under certain conditions. The program lasts three months and takes place either in the summer semester (May 1 to July 31) or in the winter semester (November 1 to January 31).

The aim of the supplementary course is to impart interdisciplinary knowledge in administrative science, public law, and economics and social sciences. Participants are prepared for management tasks in administration, politics, and business. In addition to deepening existing knowledge, the course enables participants to fill any gaps in their training and acquire practical knowledge from experienced lecturers.

In addition, the Speyer semester offers the opportunity to develop key skills such as rhetoric, foreign languages, and computer skills. For legal trainees in the legal internship, there is also the opportunity to deal more intensively with issues of legal advice and legal drafting.

The credits earned as part of the supplementary studies can be transferred to advanced degree programs such as the Master's in Public Administration or the LL.M. in State and Administration in Europe.
